Our Purpose

The Five-Fold Purpose of University Church of Christ:

 
Serving God in total obedience, and others in the humility and love of Christ
     Purpose:  To do good works as a testimony to the world of Christ working effectually through
     us in the power of God's Holy Spirit
     Supporting Scripture:  Matthew 5:16  2Corinthians 9:8, 12-14  Ephesians 2:10 
 
Reaching out to others, on Christ's behalf, motivated by a genuine concern for their salvation,
     and their spiritual growth and well-being
     Purpose:  To evangelize the lost; to work for the salvation of the lost; to make
     disciples for Christ
     Supporting Scripture:  Matthew 28:19-20  Mark 16:15  Luke 24:47-48 
 
Celebrating the life we have together in Christ through His resurrection
     Purpose:  To glorify God through our acts of worship
     Supporting Scripture:  Psalm 86:9-12  Romans 11:36  1Corinthians 6:20, 10:31 
     Revelation 4:11 
 
Building God-honoring, Christ-centered relationships among the Body of believers
     Purpose:  To produce holy Christians through edification that leads to sanctification
     Supporting Scripture:  Ephesians 4:11-17, 29  2Timothy 3:16-17 
 
Caring for those who make up the Body of Christ
     Purpose:  To minister to both the physical and spiritual needs of those in the Body
     Supporting Scripture:  Romans 12:13-16  Galatians 5:13  Acts 20:28  James 5:14-15
